 NCUST Excellence in Urban Education Awards    

Each year, NCUST identifies, recognizes, and awards high-achieving urban schools (along with their districts and other reform partners). The goals of the NCUST Excellence in Urban Education awards program are to:

  • Recognize the hard work, dedication, and talent of urban school educators and students;
  • Educate the public about the accomplishments and potential of urban schools;
  • Provide a concrete benchmark of excellence that motivates reform efforts; and
  • Deepen the knowledge base of best practices for promoting urban school transformation.

The 2009 Excellence in Urban Education Award Competition is now OPEN!

Eligibility Criteria
The 2009 EUE competition includes eleven eligibility criteria. Please review the criteria to find out if your school is eligible for the competition. The "additional evidence" questions cannot substitute for meeting the numeric criteria for high attendance, high achievement, high equity, low suspensions, challenging curriculum, and high graduation rates.

Twenty finalists have been selected for the NCUST 2008 Excellence in Urban Education Awards. Thirty-three additional schools are to be placed on the NCUST Honor Roll.
